I have to admit that this makes me very sad. I work in an academic
environment (read: financially restricted unless you happen to work on the
NIH campus in DC) where upgrading is often simply not an option.

It would have been so nice if OpenJDK had made it possible to finally
upgrade Java even on those old machines where even 10.7 just does not run
properly.
