I hereby nominate Athijegannathan Sundararajan simply known to many of
us as "Sundar",
who joined Sun Microsystems in the very early days of Java, circa 2000,
as a sustaining engineer
supporting JDK 1.2.2 with Exact VM.

Sundar, during the JDK5 time frame spent a lot of time and energy,
improving various tools
such as the serviceability agent (sa), windbg back-end.

Sundar integrated the javax.script API and the Rhino engine into JDK6,
he worked on numerous
JDK tools such as jhat, jrunscript and SA tools such as jmap and jstack.
He has also worked
extensively on JVMTI, dtrace and jstack support in HotSpot

After a stint in the JavaFX team, contributing to the javafx compiler,
Sundar is now part of the
nashorn team, responsible for various contributions as well as
integrations of the nashorn code
base into JDK8 and JDK9.

Besides his monumental contributions to the JDK, Sundar also co-authored
the invaluable btrace,
an open source dynamic tracing tool, and JSR-223 engines for many
languages.
