I am pleased to once again nominate Gil Tene to an At-Large Member
position on the OpenJDK Governing Board.
Gil is very well known to both the OpenJDK and Java communities. He has
been active with Java for over 25 years and has been building JDKs for
20 of those years. I have known Gil professionally for more than 10
years through our mutual involvement in OpenJDK and Java, and I have
followed his and Azul's contributions and involvement in Java and
OpenJDK for even longer. With Gil's experience in leading an independent
provider of both free and supported JDK distributions for two decades, I
continue to strongly believe Gil offers important perspectives on
advancing the Java ecosystem and furthering community interests. He has
been a community elected member of the JCP Executive Committee where his
community involvement and business experience made him an important
voice for representing and forwarding the community interests of Java
developers. Gil has a long track record of working to ensure and
maintain a level playing field for vendors and ensure that stable,
credible and free Java runtimes are available for all. For me, the
consistency and dedication to this effort is my primary reason to
support his candidacy. It has also been why I've previously chosen the
Zulu Embedded and Zulu Community JVMs as an Azul customer.
Gil is an active developer and contributor to multiple open source
projects. Gil's technical experience and exposure within the JVM and JDK
is quite broad based. Gil is a Java Champion and a frequent speaker at
developer conferences. Gil is a respected voice in the Java community
and a great ambassador for the value of Java to the broader software and
open source communities.
Gil's extensive experience in matters both technical and procedural
makes him a valuable asset to the Java and OpenJDK community. He will be
an excellent member of the OpenJDK Governing Board and I encourage you
to support his candidacy.
Cheers,
Mike
