I'd like to nominate Chris Thalinger as a candidate for At-Large
Member on the OpenJDK Governing Board.
Chris has been a tireless advocate for Java and OpenJDK, serving on
the Governing Board for the past two years, where he has strongly
encouraged more openness and transparency in the board's operation and
communications. He has also advocated extensively for OpenJDK and the
Graal JIT based on his experiences with both at Twitter. He has more
than 17 years' experience with HotSpot and OpenJDK, originally at
Oracle as a member of the HotSpot compiler development team and also
at Twitter. His work w/Graal has led to its adoption by most of
Twitter's production services, yielding significant performance
improvements. He has also worked on the C2 JIT, optimizations for
invokedynamic, and did an initial port of Graal to the Sparc
architecture.
I am confident Chris will continue to serve the OpenJDK Community well
as a Governing Board member, and am pleased that he is willing to run
again.
Regards,
John Coomes
