Hi Forrest,
Maybe you could try zero, which is an interpreter. Debian provides
openjdk8 zero build of mips and mipsel (mips and mipsel are in the
Architecture list at present)[1].
Loongson has ported openjdk8 to mips64el, which is a 64-bit server
compiler version. If you want a mips32 JIT version, I think Azul may
help you[2].
