That's a fair point. I'll try to go through the patch soon (but might be 
next week as I'm busy with other things this week). On the weak 
reference, the reason for it to avoid keeping a reference to the 
attributes when storing the Paths in a collection (if you walk a large 
file tree and put all paths in a collection for example).
