There is another thread on performance where someone (I think Michael) made the claim that jfx was slow (in some cases 2-3 times slower than awt) and my own experiences have shown problems. I'd suggest continuing that conversation on that thread if needed since the original poster of that question made a good attempt at phrasing these questions (and in my opinion leaving that thread unanswered was far worse for perception than leaving this one unanswered - surprised Richard let it unrebuked based on his stance on performance). 

I didn't see the other thread say we were slower than the browser, if they did, that would have got my attention :-)
