Does that make me the Columbus of the JavaFX open source world? Hopefully
that works out better for JavaFX and Oracle than it did for the native
Americans when Columbus landed :)

I'll read over the OCA and start there.

You answered a number of the organization and structure questions that came
to mind. As I work through the process I can ask better more specific
questions.
