Packaging Application Metadata

[Pedro Duque Vieira]

I wonder what's the real demand for that type of thing: an universal
artifact that is runnable regardless of the platform?

Do users really need that? Aren't installers enough? Are users not
already accustomed to having to install an app whenever they need to use it?
The same goes for native artifact.
