what would these classes extend though?
Materials are for the most part user defined...
They are mostly classified by their shaders,textures. (ie transparent materials vs sprite vs lighting).
If we were to provide more materials it would be because of their functionality, it would be because of their shaders, right?

I don't foresee the need to add dozens, but an additional of 10 classes
might be a reasonable expectation. :-)
