javafx on android - weird box within regions

Hi,
I have a question regarding regions on android

it seems that all regions with a set background have some kind of white 
box inside
(in this case it is gray - its color has to do something with the 
background (in this case its aqua)
look at the attached screenshot

it is a very simple application with just one region

anybody experienced the same behaviour - or has a workaround for this issue?
