Debugging CSS

After loads of trail and error I pinned it down to the fact that scaling of the node in question was not taking into account when positioning it; it is centered and I use its width to do that, but it was the width-before-scaling. So it was a miracle it was in the right place at all. What really would be needed here (and I think anyone who has done HTML with CSS will agree) is a which-property-is-set-by-which-CSS-class-and-file, like the debug view in browsers. Does the CSS engine keep track of this information?

I have setup a control (gauge) in such a way that, depending on the position of the needle, certain CSS classes are added or removed from the control. For example a "errorSegment-active" class if the value comes into the 90-100 value in a 0-100 gauge. In this class a CSS variable -fx-error-indicator-visibility is set to "visible" and that again shows some kind of indicator on the gauge. Works great.
