RFR 8192738: Remove invokeNative from linkToNative branch

Please review the following patch:

The linkToNative branch was originally designed to cater to the nicl 
support - as such it contained both the linkToNative and the 
invokeNative mechanisms. Now that the nicl branch embeds the 
invokeNative mechanism, the linkToNative mechanism can really be true to 
its name, and drop the invokeNativeMachinery.
