[foreign] RFR: cleanup annotations unused by jextract

I'll push this - but it would be interesting if somebody (Henry?) could 
comment on why these annotations were introduced in the first place - 
e.g. what kind of use cases you had in mind. I believe the type 
conversion stuff has probably to do with the binding registry?
