For what is worth (not arguing in favor or against this or that 
proposal), on Ubuntu I have observed that Oracle JDK has a different 
java.library.path than on Ubuntu's OpenJDK (which you install via apt). 
So java.library.path is not very stable, even on the same platform/OS :-)
