proposed. You're right that a detailed project plan is for another 
document, but I think it would be useful to have a a couple of 
statements as to what is being proposed. I can't think of an existing 
document that you can refer to; taking on new ports is very rare and 
we've had to do go through this once in OpenJDK with the MacOSX port. In 
that case then the ducks were lined up by getting the hotspot changes in 
first, the jdk changes later. In the case of the jdk changes then I've 
no doubt that will be at least some up-front/refactoring work required 
and it would be good to list those areas if possible.
