I am in no way affiliated with Longsoon, I just have a personal interest in seeing the OpenJDK finally land full throttle on MIPS. In as much as I will be able to help Ao, I am seeking a nomination for membership in the porters group. I am an official signatory on the CDDL (now OCA), and I would submit as part of my CV my extensive work with the (now defunct) OpenSolaris community as a core contributor to the ARC group and occasional patch submitter in general. My hope is that as an official member, and once Ao Qi and his team sort out their OCA licensing, I can continue to liaise with Ao and more effectively help him with whatever he and his team need done. I can provide direct links for references if requested, but some low tech google-fu should turn up a few links with my name and PSARC, LSARC, and SMF in combination. For what it's worth, I make a living off of Java and its surrounding ecosystem, and have been a hardware hacker since age 9. Hello Mark, This is fantastic! Somebody from the Porter Group needs to decide if they want to sponsor you as a member, but as a general rule [1]: """ A Group Member is a Contributor who has demonstrated a history of significant contributions to a Group and, as a result, has been granted Membership in that Group. A Member of a Group has write access to the Group?s web content and file repositories. """ I would suggest to first start rolling out patches, you don't need to be part of any group to do that and it will make escalating the membership privileges much easier. Of course, we love participation, if you have any questions, or if you need any help, the best place to start is to ask to the Adoption Group: http://openjdk.java.net/groups/adoption/ Cheers, Mario [1] http://openjdk.java.net/bylaws#group -- pgp key: http://subkeys.pgp.net/ PGP Key ID: 80F240CF Fingerprint: BA39 9666 94EC 8B73 27FA FC7C 4086 63E3 80F2 40CF Java Champion - Blog: http://neugens.wordpress.com - Twitter: @neugens Proud GNU Classpath developer: http://www.classpath.org/ OpenJDK: http://openjdk.java.net/projects/caciocavallo/ Please, support open standards: http://endsoftpatents.org/ From storycrafter at gmail.com Thu Jun 9 18:46:37 2016 From: storycrafter at gmail.com (Mark Martin) Date: Thu, 9 Jun 2016 13:46:37 -0500 Subject: OpenJDK 8 port for MIPS has been open sourced by Loongson In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: On Thu, Jun 9, 2016 at 1:23 PM, Mario Torre wrote: > > Of course, we love participation, if you have any questions, or if you > need any help, the best place to start is to ask to the Adoption > Group: http://openjdk.java.net/groups/adoption/ Thanks for the thorough response. I'm doing as suggested -- becoming actively engaged in the adoption group. Of course, I immediately jump to the bugs JIRA site to take a peek and see if anything looks like low hanging fruit. And ahhhh -- the memories! Links to webrevs behind firewalls. I was kinda hoping that the situation had evolved in the 5ish years or so since I was participating (as an outsider) with OpenSolaris. Guess I have my work cut out ahead of me. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Hi Mark, in order to be eligible for membership in a Group, you should be regularly active in a Group or its sponsored Projects for at least a year before being nominated to be a Group Member. I don't see a record of you being active in the Porters Group or its sponsored Projects yet, so I'd suggest holding that thought for at least a year longer. > I am an official signatory on the CDDL > (now OCA), That's not the same thing, fwiw. cheers, dalibor topic -- Dalibor Topic | Principal Product Manager Phone: +494089091214 | Mobile: +491737185961 ORACLE Deutschland B.V. & Co. Thanks a lot for the help of Mark. I wish we could have further cooperating. I am dealing with OCA. Because two companies and many people were involved in the development, it may take some time to make all of them sign. Additional, I thought five contributors including me have signed and submitted the OCA in 2010, but I cannot see our names listed at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/oca-486395.html. Maybe there was some mistake. I have resent that email which contains those five OCA. I am neither a member nor a contributor of the group. I am not sure whether I am considered to be regularly active in the Group. Anyway, I think I should get my name in the OCA Signatories List first!
