ppc64le changes for jdk8u

Hi Thomas,

Based on what I've discussed with David and Sean [1, 2] my current understanding
is that once changes like that proposed by Hiroshi and Michi are on 10 it's
possible to request an adhoc / per case request to backport it to 8u without
the need to get the changes on 9 before.
