Looks good. For some historical perspective, it looks like this change came with the following commit:

Oddly that is for the initial push of AOT support. My first guess was that AOT greatly increased the number of symbols, and maybe some performance profiling picked up  this hash table performance, but that seems unlikely since I see no reason why AOT would have resulted in profiling SA support.
