RFR: Upstream merge

I intend to merge from upsteam up to changeset:

summary:     8202157: remove the use of string keys at
InapplicableMethodException

This pulled in without significant conflicts.

After this comes "8200303: C2 should leverage profiling for
lookupswitch/tableswitch", which will require some work.
