You do not need to wait for 10.11 It can be done on 10.10 too.
If you download and install "Java for OS X 2015-001" on 10.10 it will
just start working ..
I just verified this myself - ran SwingSet2 - saw the old L&F -
installed the Apple JDK 6 update
and re-started SwingSet2 and it was updated.
