It's the new rule "we" (old jdk-er) had to take when we open-sourced to
the "open
source community". Some open source distros would not take any binary
file in A
open source repository. They will complain and simply delete them if
they see
coming in, that includes anything that is not ascii text. If they cannot
read the file
with a text editor and verify it is 'open source'. So welcome to the
open source
world:-)
Also from past experience, binary file kept in repository sometime
really causes
troubles, triggered the virus-scan software, on Windows platform for
example. So
they got deleted by those software automatically under certain
configuration...
