annoying web page auto-redirect

The page at

    http://www.sun.com/software/opensource/java/

has a link titled "OpenJDK" which points to the URL

    http://openjdk.dev.java.net/

That URL appears to have interesting and useful information, but it
has a meta tag that forces an immediate redirect to a different page:

    http://openjdk.java.net/

To see more than a momentary glimpse of the former page, I had to
use wget to download it, and edit out the redirect.

Is that redirect really necessary?  The "What you will find here"
section of the former page actually seemed useful, and is missing
from the latter page.  I don't see any equivalent of that section
elsewhere; maybe updated info could be put on the new page?
