Access to bug database

On compiler-dev I asked:
If I have a link to a given bug in the javac bug database, I can access it, but the search facilities do not work.
Is there a mechanism to get more complete access to the database for people outside of Oracle?
I received two responses, one from Jonathan Gibbons saying:
> There is ongoing work to make JBS (Java Bug System) accessible for people outside of Oracle.
And one from Alex Buckley saying:
> web-discuss is the best list to ask about the state of bug tracking (e.g. http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/web-discuss/2013-January/000397.html)
So I am posting this issue to this list.
My company has a Java front end. Getting more information about javac bugs would be very helpful, along with the ability to find out if a given issue is already a known problem.
