Hi All,
While going through the "contribute" page (for unambiguity:
http://openjdk.java.net/contribute/), I noticed three potential bugs.
I searched the bug system for that URL, and found no bugs that covered
these issues.
Please review and comment. Thanks :)
Bug 1) I see the instructions focus on Java 9 and Java 8 (update). However
I have been told that the community's current focus is on Java 10.
Solution 1) Update the contribution page to refer to Java 10 and 9(u?),
and also 8u if that's still going.
Bug 2) The link to the Java 9 build instructions appears to be broken (See
the start of section 3).
Solution 2) I advise changing this link to
hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk9/jdk9/raw-file/tip/common/doc/building.html
Note: This does not apply to the Java 8 build instructions, as that link
works.
Bug 3) The page advises that people use email attachments to send files
via the mailing lists, despite people saying the lists strip out
attachments. (See just before the three bullet points in section three).
Example:
http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2017-April/047091.html
Solution 3) Replace "attachments" with a bit that advises people to either
send the files directly to the sponsor, or put short diffs into the email
directly.
Example:
http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2017-April/047092.html
Thank you all for your time. :)
Best Regards
Adam Farley
