Hello,
I am rather certain that the final page after submitting a report at https://bugreport.java.com/bugreport/submit_start.do used to show a request number. This is not the case anymore.
In general please improve the bug reporting process, it is pretty awful at the moment:
* It is completely intransparent what happens after a report has been submitted. There have been cases where a report just got "lost" on Oracle's / OpenJDK's side, without ever hearing any feedback nor a report being created. That even happened for a security relevant report (has been reported again).
* The request number which used to be shown (but is not anymore) is not very helpful. You would have to note it down and remember which reports you submitted, then regularly check the bug tracker if the report was created and if not contact OpenJDK. And even then, how would you contact them since the bug report submission form is apparently not a reliable way for communication?
* As noted in a separate mail, it appears that no confirmation mails are sent anymore when a report has been created: "Update Notification: Bug Report - JDK-###"
* It happened that when receiving a mail from an Oracle employee when something was unclear about a report, they would not respond back after answering their mail and asking them something. Neither was the information added to the report in question. Maybe that happened because that Oracle employee is now marked as "Inactive", however the handover could have worked better then.
* Bug reports are closed when OpenJDK members misunderstand them. However because there is no relation to the reporter anymore, they would not even notice it and there is no way to clarify it.
Sorry for this rant-like mail. I really do want to contribute by creating bug reports, but in the current form this can be rather difficult.
Kind regards
