thanks for your support - this worked quite nice. I rebuild the ubuntu
package and got a much better experience in netbeans. I'll run netbeans
now on the xrender pipeline.

Attached you find a patch against the ubuntu openjdk-7 sources - if you
find it useful feel free to use.
