Then when the jdk Mercurial repositories are made available, we will provide you a http or ssh path that you can 'hg clone' to get your own repositories. Even though initially these will be read-only, you will have the complete repository in your own clone. No more source bundles. ;^) (The binary plugs are another matter). You may want to create ('hg init') your own repository of something and play around with the basic Mercurial commands to get used to it. -kto Ted Neward wrote: > Or just the Mercurial settings to use to fetch the source, or... > > I am complete Mercurial n00b, so I have no idea what I'm asking, to be > honest: I guess I'm looking for the Mercurial equivalent to SVN URL and > credentials to use. > > Oh, and good links on how to use Mercurial would also be useful. :-) > > Ted Neward > Java, .NET, XML Services > Consulting, Teaching, Speaking, Writing > http://www.tedneward.com > > >> -----Original Message----- >> From: Kelly.Ohair at Sun.COM [mailto:Kelly.Ohair at Sun.COM] >> Sent: Wednesday, October 03, 2007 11:41 AM >> To: Ted Neward >> Cc: build-dev at openjdk.java.net >> Subject: Re: OpenJDK Mercurial Transition Update 4 >> >> This list and the openjdk web site I suspect, plus the discuss & >> announce aliases. >> >> I assume the information you refer to is effectively how to clone >> a repository? >> >> -kto >> >> Ted Neward wrote: >>> Where will Mercurial repository information be made available? In this file we see definitions like these: #define _UINT32_T #ifndef uint32_t /* [sbb] scaffolding */ typedef unsigned int uint32_t; #endif /* [sbb] scaffolding */ The problem with such a construct is when uint32_t isn't a macro, but a real type that is defined with typedef. Then the compiler tries to re-typedef this type which conflicts with the system type. My solution here looks like this: #define _UINT32_T #if ! defined uint32_t && ! defined HAVE_UINT32_DEFINED typedef unsigned int uint32_t; #endif /* [sbb] scaffolding */ that is, we check the HAVE_UINT32_DEFINED. This has to be defined on a target system where uint32_t is defined as type. In my setup I do this in a configure-check, but OpenJDK doesn't use configure, so I left this out. It should be possible to pass as compiler flag too. If this macro isn't defined at all (the default) then the behaviour is exactly as before. Comments? Better solutions? BTW: If this isn't the correct list, then please re-direct me to the appropriate list. /Roman -- Dipl.-Inform. Has anyone an idea of what it could be? Or what can i > do to make it work? > From the README-builds.html included in openjdk: Bootstrap JDK All OpenJDK builds require access to the previously released JDK 6, this is often called a bootstrap JDK. The JDK 6 binaries can be downloaded from Sun's JDK 6 download site . For build performance reasons is very important that this bootstrap JDK be made available on the local disk of the machine doing the build. You should always set ALT_BOOTDIR to point to the location of the bootstrap JDK installation, this is the directory pathname that contains a bin, lib, and include It's also a good idea to also place its bin directory in the PATH environment variable, although it's not required. So I think you might have to try using JDK6 instead of 5. Hope that helps. Anyway, thanks for reporting it! Please refer to the following bug to track the status of the problem: http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=6613927 Currently the bug is being fixed. Concerning the possibility of using an external libpng library, we've got the following bug report: http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=6565114 However, we're postponing the fix because the submitter of the patch haven't prepared a clean patch yet. The main reason to use a slightly more comprehensive patch is to be able to use both the internal version of the library and the external one (if the developer defines the EXTERNAL_LIBPNG macro when building OpenJDK). It would be very helpful if someone could provide a clean patch for the latter bug. -- best regards, Anthony On 10/12/2007 05:14 AM Frederic Simon wrote: > I tried to build b21 on my Ubuntu 7.04 and got: > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/png.o: > In function `png_init_mmx_flags': > png.c:(.text+0xbc): undefined reference to `png_mmx_support' > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/pngpread.o: > In function `png_push_process_row': > pngpread.c:(.text+0x86e): undefined reference to `png_read_filter_row' > pngpread.c:(.text+0x934): undefined reference to `png_do_read_interlace' > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/pngpread.o: > In function `png_progressive_combine_row': > pngpread.c:(.text+0x141): undefined reference to `png_combine_row' > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/pngread.o: > In function `png_read_row': > pngread.c: (.text+0xa7d): undefined reference to `png_combine_row' > pngread.c:(.text+0xbd8): undefined reference to `png_combine_row' > pngread.c:(.text+0xbfc): undefined reference to `png_combine_row' > pngread.c:(.text+0xc98): undefined reference to `png_combine_row' > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/pngread.o:pngread.c:(.text+0xcb4): > more undefined references to `png_combine_row' follow > /work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/tmp/sun/sun.awt/splashscreen/obj64/pngread.o: > In function `png_read_row': > pngread.c:(.text+0xce5): undefined reference to `png_read_filter_row' > pngread.c:(.text+0xd0d): undefined reference to `png_do_read_interlace' > collect2: ld returned 1 exit status > make[3]: *** > [/work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/control/build/linux-amd64/lib/amd64/libsplashscreen.so] > Error 1 > make[3]: Leaving directory > `/work/java.net/openjdk.trunk/j2se/make/sun/splashscreen' > > I found this thread talking about it: > http://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/distro-pkg-dev/2007-August/000192.html > > So, I tried to modified the makefile to use the system png. From shao3david at yahoo.com Mon Oct 15 06:35:16 2007 From: shao3david at yahoo.com (David Shao) Date: Sun, 14 Oct 2007 23:35:16 -0700 (PDT) Subject: Patch to build workspace langtools on Mac OS X 10.4 for b22 Message-ID: <624825.23211.qm@web30214.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Attached is a trivial patch to build.xml to get workspace langtools for b22 to at least compile on Mac OS X 10.4, using the default Java 1.5 and using apache-ant 1.7.0 from MacPorts. On my system, the check for the bootstrap java would fail. I am a novice at Ant, but from my reading of the manual, I changed the usage of task available so that if the file on the path created from concatenating property and marker was found, a marker property would be set, then as was done with the property test of macrodef check, I simply check for whether the marker property was not set to decide whether to fail. My description is longer than the actual changes. I do not know if using task available with no property set within a conditional is an Ant idiom that is supposed to work, but that is all that prevented initial building for me. I have not tested the actual functionality of the built langtools. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. http://mobile.yahoo.com/mobileweb/onesearch?refer=1ONXIC -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... (With some remaining and necessary exceptions). * There are no more SCCS keywords (with some very minor exceptions) * The .java. .cpp, .hpp, .c, and .h files should no longer have TAB characters and the whitespace in these files have been normalized (^M's removed, trailing blanks on lines removed, etc.) * The control/make directory was pushed down a level to accomodate the removal of the control workspace in Mercurial, and movement of these files into the top level enclosing Mercurial repository. A few fixes went into Build 23 above and beyond the above changes. Some fixes for partial build problems from the j2se/make (or "jdk/make") directory, and a bug in hotspot that caused a javac compilation problem on 64bit when using Build 22. Also, the jaxws files in Build 23 will have JAXWS 2.0 again, this is temporary. These Build 23 files will be the starting point for our Mercurial repositories. Expect more information on this in the coming days ahead. -kto From rabelenda at gmail.com Mon Oct 29 14:38:48 2007 From: rabelenda at gmail.com (Roger Abelenda) Date: Mon, 29 Oct 2007 12:38:48 -0200 Subject: custom packages Message-ID: <975ae7d10710290738x36317e25s6ee48b91fff2bc26@mail.gmail.com> Hi there, me again :-). Sorry, I missed the part where you stated the name of the macro ;-) I used ALT_EXT_LIB_PNG. By the way, I have a feeling that a movement to use more and more library from the host OS (especially on Linux) is going on. Am I wrong? Because, with this macro set the j2se image will not run on a system with no libpng12. That sounds a little strange to me. Anyway, hope it helps. The ALT_JDK_IMPORT_PATH should just be used when the build detects one of the above areas is not participating in the build. Doing a 'cd control/make && gnumake' should first build langtools with the BOOT jdk (ALT_BOOTDIR), then build hotspot, corba, jaxp, jaxws, and finally go into j2se to build everything else and construct the j2sdk-image. The first thing it should do is build langtools, not corba. ahh you cut out part of the log... Once langtools is built, all other java compilations should run the BOOT jdk with the javac.jar from the langtools build. The trigger for this is that the corba, jaxp, jaxws, and jdk repositories should get a ALT_LANGTOOLS_DIST setting that points at the langtools "dist" directory, which should prevent using the ALT_JDK_IMPORT_PATH javac. Look in build/linux-*/langtools/dist and make sure langtools built ok. I'll try this myself and see if I can reproduce the problem on the antique linux machines I have. -kto Nicholas Riley wrote: > > On Oct 31, 2007, at 11:03 AM, Kelly O'Hair wrote: > >> A FULL jdk control build involves having the following directories: >> >> control langtools corba jaxp jaxws hotspot j2se >> >> And you are right, you should not need to set ALT_JDK_IMPORT_PATH when >> doing >> a full control build. >> The ALT_JDK_IMPORT_PATH should just be used when the build detects one >> of the above areas is not participating in the build. >> >> Doing a 'cd control/make && gnumake' should first build langtools with >> the >> BOOT jdk (ALT_BOOTDIR), then build hotspot, corba, jaxp, jaxws, and >> finally >> go into j2se to build everything else and construct the j2sdk-image. >> >> Do you have all these areas?
