Class-path wildcards are expanded by the launcher and the compiler, on
all platforms, to include all files in a specific directory that end in
`.jar` or `.JAR`.  In most shells you need to quote them so that the
shell doesn’t expand them, e.g., `--class-path lib/\*:.`.
