The time-out seems a problem in that switch because I've got a Java exception
in Oracle plug-in under windows. So, I tried in other switches and applet is
loaded right in Firefox + IcedTea but it crashes when I swap between tabs under
Google Chrome.

I've attached console.log with 
"Memory corruption detected"

and files under .icedtea/logs directory.
