I don't know what the C++ equivalent to -Wall -Werr is, but we should have at 
least that enabled on all platforms IMHO.

I have tried to come up with a master's thesis proposal related to turning on 
more warnings and fixing the issues that comes up. It's not entirely easy to 
get it to sound like a research project... If someone wants to help out it 
would be appreciated and we do have good chances to get a student to actually 
go through with the project if it is properly designed.

Otherwise the backup is to hire a summer intern to do the work. But that won't 
happen until next summer, so if we can get some bugs out of there before that 
it would be awesome.
