I moved it back and will do a merge and look really hard at the 
constructor  (before and after)

I think the common case will be that the current_virtual_list will not have
a container count that  is 0 so most of the time it will not matter.  If 
we do
free the current_virtual_list, the replacement will most often already
be full (that's why it is not the current one), so we'll need a new one.
I'm like to not free the current_virtual_list and see how it does.
