Implementation of Comparator.min and Comparator.max methods. Preliminary discussion is in this thread: https://mail.openjdk.org/pipermail/core-libs-dev/2025-May/145638.html The specification is mostly composed of Math.min/max and Collections.min/max specifications. The methods are quite trivial, so I don't think we need more extensive testing (e.g., using different comparators). But if you have ideas of new useful tests, I'll gladly add them. I'm not sure whether we should specify exactly the behavior in case if the comparator returns 0. I feel that it could be a useful invariant that `Comparator.min(a, b)` and `Comparator.max(a, b)` always return different argument, partitioning the set of {a, b} objects (even if they are equal). RFR: 8372301: Improve error message for jimage command line tool regarding version mismatch

Adds a semantic reason for failure which can be optionally interrogated by calling code. Use the 'Reason.BAD_VERSION' value to trigger a different translated error message from the JImageTask. I would consider moving the error message string into the Reason enum to simplify the code triggering the error and avoid message string duplication, but it's not straightforward due to the need to supply the version numbers. Can I please get a review of this change which addresses the issues noted in https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8049630 and https://bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8049619? The `java.naming` module allows for the `java.naming.ldap.factory.socket` environment property to be configured to point to the class name of the implementation of a `javax.net.SocketFactory`. As noted in the specification of that property https://docs.oracle.com/en/java/javase/25/docs/api/java.naming/module-summa…: > The value of this environment property specifies the fully qualified class name of the socket factory used by the LDAP provider. This class must implement the SocketFactory abstract class and provide an implementation of the static "getDefault()" method that returns an instance of the socket factory. The implementation in the JDK default LDAP provider currently doesn't verify that the given class name points to a type which is `javax.net.SocketFactory`, nor does it verify that the correct expected `getDefault()` method exists. The changes in this PR addresses that issue and introduces a jtreg test to reproduce the issue and verify the fix. Tighten up jpackage's output validation. - Support separate validation of jpackage's stdout and stderr. Previously, validation was applied to the merged stdout and stderr output, so errors were not detected when jpackage expected to write to stdout but wrote to stderr instead - 99% of test cases in ErrorTest will check that jpackage's stderr contains exact expected error messages and doesn't contain additional text lines - Use `String.equals()` instead of `String.contains()` when validating strings from jpackage string bundles in jpackage output Replace TKit.TextStreamVerifier.Group class with a more capable JPackageOutputValidator. Fix revealed issues: - jdk.jpackage.internal.AppImageSigner: use `Log.fatalError()` to report a fatal signing error instead of `Log.info()`. This change directs signing error messages to stderr, where all warnings and errors belong, rather than stdout. - On macOS, when the value of the "--app-image" option is not a directory, jpackage used to report two errors: that the value is not a directory and that it is not a macOS bundle. This behavior has changed: jpackage will report only the first error. Implementation of preview-mode support for jimage modules file, migrated from Valhalla related work (see JDK-8352750). This PR (the first of several) migrates work from Valhalla (lworld) to the JDK mainline repository in relation to "preview mode" support. It affects the creation and reading of the jimage file, both in Java (BasicImageReader/ImageReader) and C++ (imageFile.xpp/jimage.xpp). Preview mode is a mechanism by which alternate version of JDK class files and resources can be made available for class loading and reflection when the '--enable-preview' flag is passed to the runtime. Alternate classes/resource appear in each module under the: /<module>/META-INF/preview/<path-to>/<resource-or-class> and replace the original: /<module>/<path-to>/<resource-or-class> files when preview mode is enabled. While initially useful for Valhalla work, this mechanism will be used for other cases where preview features (in the JEP 12 sense) require alternate classes/resources to be provided. None of the changes in this (or the follow-up PRs) are Valhalla specific. …retransformed Fix a retransform error when retransforming a record with type annotation. processing the record type annotation was done by calling the wrong method and using the one to process regular annotation. Regular annotations have not the same structure and decoding was therefore incorrect. The decoding methods detect a problem but this error was not propagated correctly outside of VM_RedfineClass::load_new_class_versions method, swallowing the error and leaving the retransformed class in bad state. Partial in-lining handles copy and mismatch for small array sizes less than -XX:ArrayOperationPartialInlineSize bytes through JIT code rather than calling optimized stubs thereby saving costly call overhead. Enabling partial in-lining optimization for AMD EPYC servers supporting AVX-512 feature.
