Fwd: G1 now the default in JDK 9

Hi Dalibor,
I completely agree. However, as I said when this was first proposed, the
community only has a certain amount of bandwidth with which to conduct
forward testing. I'm concerned that we're asking for a lot between now &
next September.
Furthermore, this type of testing is harder to do at hackdays as it
involves runtime behaviour of compete applications, rather than compile
time "does this work?" or "try out this API" sessions. The cases we
actually want to hit are not amenable to easy testing on a weekend in a
public place.
Not saying we shouldn't do it - just urging people not to expect too much
from HackDay sessions.
I'm thinking of a couple of ways to tackle this, but need some more time to
bake them - will contact you offlist after those discussions.
Thanks,
Ben
