G1 now the default in JDK 9

Hi Ben, Dalibor,
As you guys know what you are talking about - could you please lead us to
some reliable set of steps (any blog posts from experienced and reliable
sources?) to at least start taking baby steps towards learning more about
GC behaviours and testing it the best we can with the knowledge, tools and
environments we have.
I know of one such tool that helps does it -
https://github.com/jClarity/hawkshaw, although I might be offtrack with
this suggestion.
Any ideas, suggestions in this space ? It will help all, and we can all
chip in towards testing of G1GC,
