current clone of jfx is crashing

Make sure the cache you're pulling from is from the matching hudson builds. If controls is out of sync with master, then it's very likely to break and by default the cache is populated with artifacts from master, not the scrum you're working in.
For example if you pulled from 8.0-controls-scrum run:
ant -Dhudson.jfx.job.name=8.0-controls-scrum update-cache
