In fact I am not at that level,

On my debian:
mmontaseri at griffin:/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-amd64/bin> ./java -version
java version "1.7.0_25"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.3.10) (7u25-2.3.10-1~deb7u1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)

On my CentOS:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.51.x86_64/bin/java -version
java version "1.7.0_51"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (rhel-2.4.4.1.el6_5-x86_64 u51-b02)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

I'll work on this and report back

My point was that I think it's a bug in the JDK you are using to build
openjdk8. Can you build using, say, OpenJDK7u7 to see if the permissions
are still broken? u7 is the minimum suggested version in the
README-builds.html file in OpenJDK 8.
