This is a bit of a tangent but I really could not see that on my display.
There's something weird about mac/macOS when displaying solely to an external monitor.
The background became so washed-out that it was white so there was no "shadow".
Saw this on two different monitors. i can't blame the connection or the color profile.
When dragged from built-in retina to external monitor it was still very clear.
As soon as I closed the lid of the macbook so the external display was the only active one,
the screen refreshed and the colours became washed out ..
