All,
I have been asking on the Apache lists about the JCK
and the issues which keep them from being able to
distribute their JRE or JDK to end users without the
users being liable for patent infringement etc. I have
been asking Sun guys associated with NB. I'm not sure
I understand the issue here and nobody so far can tell
me much. Anyways, the Apache person who wrote me back
says they can't give me a copy of the license to
review which they are talking about. Supposedly it
affects an end user using a Harmony runtime.
They say the TCK/JCK license restricts a
tested/certified JRE being used by an end user. Can I
get a copy of the JCK license (license only) which I
can review? Who does one need to talk to about this?
I'm just trying to figure this out. According to what
I have been directly e-mail the JCK license affects
users who use a certified JRE/JDK, and something in
the license some how limits the field of use for an
end user of a certified runtime or development kit.
Does anyone know if this is true? Just a member of
different Java projects here...including NetBeans.
Thanks,
Wade
