Cannot install JDK7 update on machine with JDK8 EA installed

I've tried reproducing this using the JDK (rather then JRE) downloads for 7u15, 8ea-b79, and 7u17 and couldn't - the JDKs all installed fine into /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1* on 10.7. 

Can you provide a step-by-step guide to trigger the issue with URLs, describing whether you installed JRE or JDK on each step?
