Missed this part. Still, I believe the 8u policy accepts fixes that make platforms build; that 
includes new compiler toolchains, etc. Something like a major rewrite of build system parts would 
likely be rejected, but one-liners that fix up #include lines or lightly massage warnings would 
likely be accepted.

Actually, this is pragmatic. Unless the fix is really 8u-specific, it should be fixed in mainline, 
and then backported all the way to all currently supported releases. Otherwise, the same issue would 
reappear once Jerome moves past JDK 8.
