Maybe an option would be to package up a post-patch tarball, but you'd
also need an option to use that zip to build rather than a 'pure'
openjdk6 tarball.

I'm not sure what you want to check in.  A script seems fine assuming
it will work generally.  I wouldn't want a tarball in the repository
though.
