Ok so this seems to be an issue caused by the recent introduction of a cmov
call without proper guards in hs18.  Did earlier versions work for you?  Does
java work with the -Xint option suggested?

We'll try and get a fix to you ASAP but in the meantime, you could try
rebuilding 1.9.7 with the default hs17 VM which shouldn't have this issue.
