You're wrong. NIO introduces a number of new dependencies including
GIO and calls to extended attribute functions.
All of this *should* be tested by configure, so I don't see the need to have a wiki page too.
It probably just need some smoothing out to work on all systems (and may never work on some,
due to the age of the packages).
