If Icedtea-web is the plug-in component for OpenJDK upstream, its name should be openjdk-plugin !

Maybe, but I am worried that calling the plugin package openjdk-plugin
would be misleading: the plugin isn't part of OpenJDK. And, you might
reply that the user doesn't care; but the stakeholders in OpenJDK (or
at least some of them) do care. I'm trying to think of a way around
this problem.
