Reading the bug Jiri referenced, it seems the Thawte certificate used to use
MD5 hashes, which are no longer supported after the January 2016 security
update. You may want to check if there is a ca-certificates update pending
which introduces the SHA1 version, or the ca-certificates folks may need to add
it.
