Seems to actually work ok with 7122887: JDK ignores Gnome3 proxy settings, when
GIO is using the right resolver:

$ GIO_USE_PROXY_RESOLVER=gnome DESKTOP_SESSION=gnome
/usr/lib/jvm/icedtea-8/bin/java TestProxy
proxy host type: HTTP
proxy hostname : localhost
proxy port : 8118
