Double checked the suggested changes against the JPRT build log failures.
Made the suggested changes, double checked the deleted code against the
new versions in src/os/linux/vm/os_linux.cpp, double checked these deletes
against the deletes for the other platforms and just submitted a JPRT
test job.

This time I'll wait for a passing JPRT job before submitting RBT testing.
Don't want to waste RBT test cycles (again...) :-)
