Sure, I'll do that. It will take me some time, but I agree it's a good
starting point.

That's actually an interesting perspective. As the current port is using
a lot of code from the Linux version (sadly by duplication atm,) but
also piggybacks on the MacOS port. Looking forward to see your thoughts
on this when I present the code in a PR.

As I've understood it, the goal is to revitalize the BSD-port, and to
keep this as an ongoing effort.
