Yes, I've seen the same suggested in previous private communication as
well, and my personal opinion is that this would be a good move.

The FreeBSD Foundation will have to answer that (I've cc'd my contacts
there), but my impression is that they are aiming for continued funding
for this project.

I agree, it's been a stepping stone to get towards working on the
mainline. I've started moving the patches to the mainline now, and will
focus on that going forward.
